Learner Support Qualifications
Qualifications for teachers, support staff and sign-posters
There are 3 levels of qualification for people involved in delivering or supporting Skills for Life.

Adult learner support |
Supports the learner: identifying and screening potential learners, signposting to appropriate provision, supporting learners under the supervision of a specialist teacher. Examples: Union Learning Reps, supporters in the voluntary sector, library staff, jobcentre staff, HR staff, in-house trainers. |

Subject Support/Teaching Assistants |
Supports the learning process: screening and contribution to initial assessment, contribution to individual learning plans, contribution to teaching. Examples: learning support staff/teaching assistants, teachers of other subjects who also wish to support literacy, numeracy or ESOL, workplace trainers or assessors who want to embed literacy, numeracy or ESOL within vocational teaching |
4 |
Teacher/Subject Specialist |
Leads the learning: leading teaching, responsible for individual learning plans, full diagnostic assessment, teaching, guiding and supporting of teaching assistants and learner support. |
The qualifications are delivered by experienced Skills for Life specialist providers.
